Camilla and Tom

14 July 2018 — Hastings Old Town

Camilla and Tom look forward to celebrating their marriage with you!

We are getting married in a lovely walled garden, followed by champagne and a BBQ. We want everyone to relax and enjoy our special occasion, so here’s some information that might be useful.

The Venue

The Old Rectory

The whole thing will take place at The Old Rectory, a boutique hotel with a fabulous walled garden. The owners, Tracey-Ann and Helen, are giving us and our guests the full run of the place for the weekend and will be looking after us all.

The Address

The Old Rectory

Harold Road, Hastings
East Sussex, TN35 5ND

The Schedule

The night before

For those in town early, we'll be holding a BBQ at Tom's parents' house in Bexhill on the evening of the 13th. Everyone's welcome, but no one's obliged! Please speak to one of us for full details.

The big day

2:45pm — Arrive at the venue

3:30pm — Ceremony in the garden

4pm — Champagne reception

5:30pm — Dinner served

7:30pm — Speeches and cake cutting

9pm-12:30am — Coffee, cake, dancing!

Getting there — Make a day of it

Coming by train

Trains go regularly between Charing Cross (1hr 45mins) or London Bridge (1hr 35mins) and Hastings Station. Then it’s a 25 minute walk or 5-10 minute taxi ride.

Coming by car

For those of you who plan to drive, there's no parking at the venue. There are a few pay-and-display car parks within walking distance, and free road parking if you get lucky, but high summer at the seaside will be busy! We suggest taking taxis or public transport where possible.

Accomodation — Make a weekend of it

There are many B&B's in the area, and we've held some rooms at the places listed below. Just mention the "Petty Grey" wedding when you book. Please note that most have a minimum 2 night stay.

Swan House

We've also put together some recommendations (that we’ve not stayed at!) on Airbnb.

What to wear

It’s a summer garden wedding by the sea, so have fun dressing up but don’t feel like you have to wear a tie or a fancy hat. Ladies may want to avoid stilettos on the grass. Shawls and jackets might be needed later on in the evening.

In the unlikely event of extreme weather, the ceremony and celebrations will be hosted indoors at the venue.

We don’t expect anyone to give us anything. But if you absolutely insist, then we would appreciate your help purchasing one of those amazing KitchenAid mixers. Tom loves cake and Camilla loves making them (and eating them too!) so you’d be truly setting us up for a lifetime of marital bliss and obesity.
